Foster Swift Lawyers Attend Annual State Bar of Michigan Health Care Law Section Meeting

Foster Swift lawyers were well represented at the Annual Meeting of the State Bar of Michigan's Health Care Law Section held on September 19th. Gilbert Frimet, Gary McRay, Jennifer Kildea Dewane, and Nicole Stratton, members of Foster Swift Health Care Law Practice Group, all traveled to Detroit to attend the meeting.

A highlight of the day was the inauguration of Gilbert Frimet into the 2012 Class of Fellows. The Class of Fellows recognizes distinguished practitioners for their professional contributions and dedication to the practice of health care law. Frimet joins Gary McRay, also a member of Foster Swift’s Health Care Law Practice Group, who was inducted as a Fellow last year.

"I am honored to be included in the Class of Fellows," said Frimet, "and would like to thank the State Bar of Michigan for the award.”

In addition to Frimet's honor, Mindi Johnson, Johanna Novak and Nicole Stratton were elected to positions on the Health Care Law Section's Substantive Law Subcommittees. Johnson, from the Grand Rapids office, is a member of the Provider's Subcommittee; Novak, from the Marquette office, as a member of the Payor Subcommittee and Stratton, from the Lansing office, is a member of the Technology Subcommittee.

The Annual Meeting included a variety of informative updates including:

  • The Health Insurance Exchange in Michigan
  • Dialogue with Leon Rodriguez, Director, Office for Civil Rights
  • Clinical Integration and ACOs
  • Medicare Hot Topics: Medicare Revalidation, Three Day Payment Window and Services Furnished Under Arrangement, and Physician Supervision Diagnostic Testing
