Recap from the Health Law Institute
On March 8 and 9, 2012, the members of Foster Swift's Health Care Law Group attended the 18th Annual Health Law Institute. This two-day institute, which is co-sponsored by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Health Care Law Section of the Michigan State Bar, focused on recent legal developments in health care law. Specific topics addressed at this year's Health Law Institute included:
- Mergers, Acquisitions and Professional Services Arrangements;
- HIPAA Updates;
- Tax Law Updates;
- Fraud and Abuse Updates;
- Qui Tam Litigation;
- Controlled Substance Prescribing;
- Payment Reform;
- Responding to Security Breaches;
- Mid-level Providers; and
- Human Subject Research Regulations.
Among the presenters at the Health Law Institute was Foster Swift's own Jennifer Kildea Dewane, who presented the Michigan health law update. The Michigan Health Law Update is a summary of all of the important Health Care related statutes and cases in Michigan in the previous year. This year marks Ms. Kildea Dewane's eighth appearance as a presenter at the Health Law Institute.
Because the regulatory landscape for health care law is changing by the minute, it is extremely important for attorneys to stay up-to-date on the developments. The Health Care Law Group members of Foster Swift recognize this and remain dedicated to staying educated on all breaking legal developments in the area of health care law.
If you have any questions regarding any of the specific health care subject mentioned above or any other health care law issues, please contact one of the Health Care Law Group members at Foster Swift.
